Khadi Herbal Sandalwood & Honey Face Wash Review

I have a love-hate relationship with Khadi products. Some of its products are really good and some are not effective. Lets take a brief view of the Khadi herbal Sandalwood & Honey Face Wash.
INR 120/150 ml

Packaging:

Khadi has same packaging for almost all its shampoos, face washes, oils etc. The bottle is quite heavy, its transparent in color so you know how much is remaining. The bottle is not travel friendly as its quite bulky.

Ingredients:

Sandalwood, Rose Water, Aloe Vera, Reetha, Honey & Glycerin.

Direction For Use:

Moist your face with water, gently apply the face wash all over the face an neck massaging it well, then rinse it off.

What It Claims:

Excellent for mature skin. Sandalwood cools the skin and has immense healing properties, honey moisturises, rejuvenates an keeps skin soft.

Texture:

It is maroonish in color, having running consistency. Due to reetha it produces much foam and lathers all over the skin very well and hence very little amount it needed to wash.

My Take On Khadi Herbal Sandalwood & Honey Face Wash

Well, I was really in need of a great face wash which is not only natural but also mild on my skin. I read whole lot of sites and thought of giving this face wash a try as it had sandalwood an honey as its main ingredients. My skin had become freckly, with dry patches due to winter. And honey is a great moisturizer so I thought to go for it.
Since its not easily available in the market, I bought it online. I had really good expectations with this face wash but after using and waiting for a month to see its effects, nothing great came out.

It lathers well over skin, but leaves slippery feeling which doesn't go easily even after splashing water numerous times which I really dont like. I feel like the residues are still on my face. After washing my face, skin does feel soft and supple for some time.
I thought it would at least improve my skin texture or help fade spots due to its natural ingredients list but nothing came out even after using this for over a month.
It claims its excellent for mature skin, so I asked my mom to try it, but after using two three times she just stopped using it saying, it feels so slippery over skin.
However, its just a normal day to day face wash. People who just wants to clean face regularly can opt for this one, and people who have high expectations with face washes should stay away from this one.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Natural ingredients
  • Lathers well
  • Skin feels soft and supple
  • Might work better for matured skin

Cons:
  • Bulky packaging
  • Running consistency, you tend to pour more than needed
  • Not easily available
  • Not effective (in my case)

Will I purchase it again?

I don't think so, there are many face washes available in the market with same price and better results.

Rejuvenating Cool Summer Face Pack

Summer has arrived with its scorching heat and so many skin problems has come with this season. In summers you just want to feel as cool, pampered and lovely as in monsoon and spring. The UV rays not only tans our skin, but we often get dark spots, wrinkles, freckles and dry patches due to heat and humidity. So, the summer season comes as a great responsibility to take extra care of our skin.
Here is one cool, rejuvenating summer pack which I always run to when I am free in this scorching heat.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tblspn Oats

Oats have so many beneficial properties not only for health but for our skin too. Oats are rich in antioxidants, and antiinflammatory properties, which makes it great mild cleanser and it also improves skin texture and can be used as mild exfoliator to remove dead skin cells.

  • 2-3 tblspn Curd

Who isn't aware of the benefits of curd for health, but it is equally beneficial to our skin as it contains anti aging and whitening properties. It also helps fades blemishes if used religiously. It moisturises skin from within and has cooling effect on skin.

  • Fresh Coriander Leaves, 1 tspn chopped

Coriander leaves are quite popular treatment to fade scars and blemishes.

  • Turmeric 1/4th tspn

Turmeric has antiinflammatory and antibacterial properties and it imparts glow to the skin.

  • Cucumber, 1-2 pieces

Cucumber is quite cooling for stomach as well as skin and it cools down the skin making it soft and supple.

Method:

  • First of all grind oats in a grinder.
  • Then add all the ingredients mentioned above and grind. It will look like a thick paste like this.

  • This much can be used for about 2-3 times.
  • Apply this paste all over face and neck massaging it well.
  • Keep it on for 20 mins then rinse it off with plain water.

Whenever I am in need to apply a face pack, I prefer homemade ones as I am sure of the ingredients which are going in the face pack unlike the store bought ones.
The above face pack was just too effective for me, my skin felt baby soft and squeky clean, and cool.
The best thing about the homemade face packs is that all the ingredients are easily available and handy in our kitchen so you are not far away from beautiful and glowing skin. 😘

Ways To Have Naturally Beautiful Skin

All of us want to have beautiful and flawless skin without a trace of make-up applied to it. Well, its not difficult if we follow certain skin care routines and take care of ourselves. Our body needs the right nutrients to fight off the damage caused due to numerable factors such as pollution, dirt, chemical loaded products, poor diet, poor lifestyle and so on.
So following are some of the well known rules and tips to follow to have that naturally beautiful skin.

1. Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking plenty and plenty of water helps your body eliminate toxins, keeps you hydrated and thus your skin looks fresh and clean. Drinking cold drinks or any other such drinks does not cut the need to consume more water. Its very very important to drink loads of water for your skin to fight off damage, acne, pimples and any thing your skin is suffering from. Its the most cheap and smart way to get beautiful skin without spending a penny. Take a one week challenge and see the difference yourself. You cannot drink water only when you are thirsty, one tip to remind yourself to drink water is to have a glass of water as the clock strikes one hour.

2. Eat Healthy

You must have heard the phrase, you are what you eat. Consume fresh fruits, foods rich in fiber, protein and antioxidants. Have green leafy vegetables, seasonal fruits, dry fruits etc. Avoid excess intake of salt and sugar. Though I am sweet tooth, I really try hard to indulge in activities to shed off the calories. Excess Salt and sugar speeds the aging process, thus making your skin dull, wrinkled more than your age.
Drink gree tea, and we all are aware of the benefits of this magical tea. I have seen the difference myself, since the time I started green tea and cutting off excess sugary amd salty foods, I felt more active and thus my skin glows from within.

3. Sun Protection

You cannot underestimate the power of SPF. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible specially between 11 to 4, and there are times when its not possible to avoid it, use SPF of minimum 30, wear sunglasses. Whether its winter, monsoon or summer, you have to and you must wear SPF while going out. UVA and UVB rays from sun not only possess the danger to cause skin cancer, but makes your skin age faster. So do not ever forget to wear SPF before stepping out.

4. Make a Skin/Hair Care Routine

One of the important steps to having good skin is to follow a skin care routine and stick to it. Its very important to wash your face once in the morning and once at night before going to bed. Use a mild soap free cleanser, tone your skin and moisturise. CTM routine is very important for our skin to be clean and dirt free. Cleaning with a mild cleanser cleanses your skin of all the dirt, than toning removes excess oil and minimizes the appearance of pores, and moisturizing keeps the skin's elasticity, and gives you soft and supple skin. Toning is not necessary if you have dry skin but oily and combination skin girls should stick to CTM routine every morning and night whereas dry skin girls should include CM in skin care routine. Plus never ignore your hands and feet.
Hair care routine involves oiling your hair with warm coconut oil and massage it well over your scalp one night before taking a shower. Using mild shampoos, and a hair pack once a month enhances your hair texture and makes it more strong and longer.

5. Exercise

Exercise does not only mean going to a gym and working out, but exercise simply means to exercise your body and keep it active and moving. It increases the circulation of oxygen and nutrients and releases toxins through sweat, which leads to clearer, firmer skin. Simply taking stairs instead of elevator, or walking than taking a ric for short distances and indulging in activities which makes you sweat, can make a whole lot of difference in your lifestyle, making you fit and your skin glowing from inside.

6. Enough Sleep

Your skin rejuvenates and repairs itself mostly while you are asleep. Make sure that you not only sleep for eight hours a night, but that it is quality sleep. Not getting enough sleep can lead to skin sagging, bags under the eyes, discoloration, and signs of aging.

7. Use Natural Products

Opt for products which contains less chemical and try to look for ingredients before buying any skin care product. Try to treat skin problems with Homemade Face Packs with natural ingredients. Use gentle cleansers and shampoos.

8. Maintain Healthy Habits

Do not touch your face without cleaning your hands well, avoiding junk food, drinking natural fruit juices are some of the good things for your body and skin. Exfoliate once a week with mild Homemade Scrubs, take shorter and cooler baths as hot showers strips your body's natural oil, making it dry and dull. Moisturise your skin, body and lips everyday, stay happy and be positive, yes it does a make a alot of difference!

9. Have Enough Vitamin C

This Vitamin has a number of advantages for your skin. Researchers have found that skin exposed to vitamin C for long periods of time can produce up to eight times more new cells! Its most found in lemon, oranges, and citrus fruits. A glass of warm water with half lemon juice is a healthy way to start your day.

10. Feel Beautiful!

Nothing makes you more beautiful than the belief that you are beautiful! Know that everyone of us is uniquely beautiful in our own way and be confident. Be simple and graceful. Help people without expecting returns and dont forget to smile! 😊

How To Determine Your Skin Type

The first step toward getting a beautiful skin is figuring out your skin type. Confused about which category—combination, oily, normal, or dry/sensitive—you fall into? You’re not alone. Most women misdiagnose themselves and, as a result, wind up using the wrong skin care regimen and
products . Caring for the wrong skin type can aggravate skin, lead to acne, or even make your skin look older than it really is.

Products formulated for your skin type offer the best chance of giving you the results you want. Follow these simple steps to determine your skin type.

#1 Wash Your Face

Remove all your makeup and cleanse your face with a mild soap free cleanser.

#2 Wait One to Two Hours

After one to two hours your skin will come back to its natural state, so now starts your work. Look for the following characteristics to determine what type your skin fall into.

1. Normal Skin

Normal skin is smooth and radiant, it reflects light evenly. It neither shows dryness or oiliness or is said to change as the weather changes, like it becomes dry in winter and oily in summer but not on the extreme side. If you having normal skin, you are one the lucky persons on earth. You can try range of products than those with oily or dry skin beauties.

2. Oily Skin

Oily Skin looks shiny and greasy or sticky to touch. It is more prone to acne and black/white heads.

3. Dry Skin

Dry skin often feels rough and tight. Certain products easily cause them redness, or itching and they tend to become selective while choosing what to use on their skin. Moisturizing is a must must for dry skin.

4. Combination Skin

It is the most common skin type. Combination skin is oily on t-zone and forehead and normal to dry over rest of the skin. It has characteristics of all three above. Special care is required for this type of skin.

The whole idea of determining your skin type is to treat your skin like how it should be treated according to its needs and problems. So choose products according to your skin type and see what works for you and then stick to it.
Your skin is part of you. It can be affected by your environment, products you use, your stress levels, diet, lifestyle choices and more. These factors can change your skin type to fluctuate.

  • Drink loads and loads of water, I can't stress enough on this, drinking more water flushes out toxins from your body and keep your skin hydrated.
  • Also follow a proper cleansing and moisturizing routine, have enough sleep and eat diet rich in proteins and antioxidants. These things will make your skin age gracefully and show the radiant you.

Facial At Home (with natural ingredients)

It is very easy to do a facial at home following the simple steps given below. A facial once in 15-20 days helps to improve complexion, increases blood circulation, rejuvenates the skin and relieves tension. Your skin will feel refreshed and more alive naturally. Since the time I discovered the homemade facial secret, I have hardly gone to the parlour for facial, these things are completely natural and free of chemicals so one can be sure of having no side effects. Before doing a facial, keep all the ingredients ready, tie your hair back and then start.

There are plenty of Homemade Facial recipes you can try according to your your skin type.
The facial involves 5 step, i.e Cleansing, Exfoliating, Steaming, Face Pack, Moisturizing.
So let's get started.

#1 CLEANSING

Cleansing is basically washing your face with a mild cleanser that removes, dirt makeup etc from your face. You can use any of your regular cleanser, or clean your face with milk.

  • For this, take 2-3 spoons of raw milk in a bowl, take a cotton, dip it in the milk an gently clean your face with it.
  • Wait for few mins and then wash it off with plain water.

#2 EXFOLIATING

There are many homemade scrubs you can make in few mins, I simply use oatmeal scrub.
  • Take 1 tblspn of oats.
  • Mix 1 tspn of water/milk, honey or aloe vera gel.
  • Mix it well till its smooth and looks milky white.
  • Scrub it over your face and neck using your fingerstips in circular motions, for 2-3 mins.
  • Keep it for 5 mins then wash it away!
  • You can see the difference yourself, I just love using it.
  • Or you can simply use any of these Homemade Scrubs.

#3 STEAMING

Steaming opens up the pores, so the dirt and impurities settled into the pores over the time can be easily removed. For this,
  • Boil some water in a long vessel.
  • Let it rest for 5 mins.
  • Now, with a towel forming a tent over your head, lower/lean your face over the vessel and capture the steam.
  • Take care not to go too close as it might burn the skin.
  • Steam for 5 mins.
  • Now take a safety or bobby pin and remove black/white heads from your nose, chin area.
  • Wash off your face with cold water.

#4 FACE PACK

As said earlier you can use any of the face pack from Here. I generally use besan pack,
  • Take 3 tblspn of besan/gram flour.
  • Add 1/2 tspn turmeric.
  • Add few drops of lemon juce.
  • Mix it with either curd, milk or rose water or you can use plain water if you dont have any ingredients above.
  • Curd works very well as it moisturises skin and leaves skin soft and supple.
  • Apply it all over your face and neck, leave untill dries and wash it with cold water.

#5 Moisturizing

You can use any of your moisturizing cream or a natural almond or olive oil to give you that baby soft skin.
With moisturizing you are done with your DIY homemade facial, which is inexpensive, natural, chemical free and with no side effects.
Do try and let us know how it worked for you.πŸ’†πŸ˜‡πŸ˜

Joy Skin Fruits Gentle Care Face Wash Review

Joy has range of products which are affordable yet easily available in the market, but some of them are really good! One such is Joy Skin Fruits range of face washes, which comes in many flavors, Lemon, Orange, Apple, Strawberry etc, and who is unknown to the benefits of fruits? Fruits are not only beneficial when cosumed internally but gives good results too when applied externally.
And I totally love fruits face packs, fruit scrubs and now face wash too.
Price:
50 INR for 65 gms
Got Joy Skin Fruits Moisturizing Apricot Scrub free.

REVIEW:

JOY SKIN FRUITS GENTLE CARE FACE WASH-APPLE

Packaging

It comes in a tube, which is very attractive in looks. A flip top is attached to the tube. But the hole is quite large thus you end up pouring more than you need.

TEXTURE

Its very smooth and thick in consistency. Water colored, and small small red colored beads are there which are very soft.

EXPERIENCE:

The Joy Skin Fruit Face Wash is quite good when it comes to cleaning the face, it removes impurities gently without stripping natural oils from face, for me that is very good thing as there are many face washes, which are very harsh on skin and removes natural oil from the skin thus making it rough. But this does its job well in cleaning day to day dirt and oil.
For washing the face, you need very little amount as its very foamy and lathers well over skin.
It has mild fragrance of fruits like.
After washing, skin feels soft, supple and clean.

Pros:

  • Decently priced, easily available.
  • Foaming, so you need little amount only.
  • Fruit extracts, which is quite good.
  • Skin feels soft and supple.
  • Suits all skin types.

Cons:
  • Flip top is sometimes annoying as the hole is large, so have to be careful while pouring on hand.
  • Takes 4-5 washes to wash off completely.

Will I recommend it to buy?
Yes, you must try it.
